The Togolese diaspora has considerable talent, skills, and resources. It brings together entrepreneurs, professionals, students, investors, and experienced people from many fields.
Yet this potential is still insufficiently connected and organized.
Many Togolese people want to help one another, start businesses, invest back home, or take part in worthwhile projects. But they do not always know where to find the right skills, whom to trust, or how to verify information before committing.
Diaspora Togo exists to address these difficulties.
A Community That Is Present but Scattered
A Togolese professional living in Canada may have a skill that a company in Togo is looking for. An entrepreneur based in France may be searching for a reliable partner. A family in the United States may want to verify certain information before investing back home.
These people could work together, but they do not always have a suitable framework in which to find one another, exchange ideas, and collaborate.
Social media lets us communicate, but following someone or belonging to the same group is not enough to establish their credibility, understand their skills, or build a lasting collaboration.
Our diaspora therefore needs more than an audience. It needs a structured network built on trust, transparency, and accountability.
Trust Does Not Mean Believing Blindly
Broken promises, poorly organized projects, and incomplete information have created distrust within our community.
This caution is understandable. But when distrust becomes permanent, it also prevents serious people from working together.
Diaspora Togo wants to help rebuild trust, not by asking members to believe blindly, but by encouraging:
· clearer identities and responsibilities;
· information that can be verified;
· structured, traceable processes;
· realistic expectations;
· an honest presentation of services and their limits.
For us, trust is not just a slogan. It must be backed by concrete actions.
Connect. Trust one another. Build together.
These three principles sum up our mission.
•Connect, means enabling Togolese people around the world to discover people, skills, businesses, and opportunities for collaboration.
•Trust one another, means fostering relationships based on clarity, verification, and accountability.
•Build together, means turning our connections into useful actions: recommending a professional, supporting a business, sharing a skill, verifying a project, or creating a partnership.
Not every collaboration needs to begin with a large investment. A useful introduction, a verified piece of information, or a service delivered with integrity is already progress.
More Than a Social Media Page
Diaspora Togo uses social media to inform, raise awareness, and open up discussions. But the project is not limited to publishing content.
DiasporaTogo.com is a platform designed to gradually enable community members to:
· create a profile;
· discover professionals and businesses;
· explore services and opportunities;
· take part in community discussions;
· submit and track certain service requests;
· develop useful collaborations.
The platform will evolve gradually according to the community’s real needs. Our priority is to build with integrity, without promising what is not yet available.
Our Vision
Our vision is of a global Togolese diaspora able to mobilize its skills and resources with confidence, transparency, and lasting impact.
We want to put proof before promises, clarity before haste, and trust before rapid growth.
But Diaspora Togo cannot be built without listening to those it aims to serve.
In your view, what is today’s main obstacle to collaboration between Togolese people in the diaspora and those living in Togo?
